Suns’ James Jones Discusses TJ Warren, Josh Jackson Trades

Published

Phoenix Suns general manager James Jones has been a busy man this offseason, and part of that activity saw him trade away TJ Warren and Josh Jackson.

Jones chalked it up to the team just growing, and maturing.

“It’s just the maturation of a team,” Jones said, according to Kellan Olson of Arizona Sports 98.7 Radio. “When we looked at our team, we knew our two young building blocks were Devin (Booker) and Deandre (Ayton) and so every move we made after that was really to add guys that would complement and help them become better players.

Jones praised the players, with Warren likely the most deserving of the praise, and wished both the best in the future.

“The guys that we moved on from are great players, they’re great talents — we wish them the best. But when you’re building a team you have to make tough decisions so we made decisions that we thought would help us and (added) proven guys that would help us.”

Dallas Mavericks’ big man Kristaps Porzingis is set to finally return to the court after nearly a two-year layoff due to injury, and he has some big goals in mind when he dons a Mavericks uniform for the very first time since his trade from the New York Knicks.

In a post on his Instagram account, Porzingis asked his followers to ask him anything, and responded to one fan in particular, who asked if he would rather be All-NBA Third Team or the All-Defensive team.

Porzingis simply stated: “All Defensive! DPOY is a goal of mine!!”

Porzingis tore his ACL during the 2017-2018 season, while he was still playing with the Knicks, so it will be interesting to see what kind form Porzingis takes the court.

Even though his playing career is officially over, there are still plans for Dirk Nowitzki to be a part of the Dallas Mavericks in a big way.

According to DallasBasketball’s Mike Fisher, the greatest Mav to ever take the court may be taking a part-owner role with the organization, if Mark Cuban has his way.

Per the report, Cuban would “absolutely” love to have Nowitzki on board as part-owner of the team.

“I’ll have the convo with Dirk in the future. There is a lot of things involved to make it all work. But it would be awesome,” Cuban said in an interview with Fisher.
