Mike D’Antoni Ends Contract Extension Talks with Rockets

Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni has ended his contract extension talks with the team, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

D’Antoni will be headed into the final year of his contract when the 2019-2020 season kicks off as talks have ended.

“There are no problems,” D’Antoni said of the contract talks ending, according to Mark Berman of Fox 26. “It doesn’t make me coach any different or have any more worries. So, no, it doesn’t cause any problems.

According to the Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan Feigen, the Rockets had offered D’Antoni a pay raise.

Rockets’ Clint Capela Out with Concussion

Houston Rockets’ big man Clint Capela will be out for the Rockets’ upcoming game against the Indiana Pacers due to a concussion, according to ESPN’s Tim McMahon.

Capela took a charge late in the Rockets’ game against the Los Angeles Clippers when he collided with Clippers’ JaMychel Green and seemed to have hit his head.

Capela was evaluated for a concussion following the collision.

Rockets’ Gerald Green to Undergo Foot Surgery

Houston Rockets’s swingman Gerald Green will undergo surgery on his broken left foot on Monday, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan Feigen.

Green met with several specialists to evaluate his options but ultimately opted to undergo surgery.

Green suffered the injury during the Rockets’ second preseason game in Tokyo, Japan earlier this month and there is no specific timetable for his return to the court following surgery.

Rockets Claim Ray Spalding Off Waivers

The Houston Rockets have claimed veteran power forward Ray Spaulding off of waivers from the Atlanta Hawks, according to Stadium and The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The Rockets opened up an available roster spot when the released forward Anthony Bennett earlier this week.

Spalding, 22, played 14 games for the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns during his rookie season.
