Wizards’ Scott Brooks Confident Team is Turning It Around

Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks is confident that the Wiz are finally hitting their stride and turning around a disappointing season, despite the trade rumors and narrative that a re-boot is needed.

After their victory over the Detroit Pistons, they inched closer to to the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.

“I mean, I definitely like the spirit, and the confident level our team has,” Brooks said, according to David Aldridge of The Athletic.

Washington has won 7 out of their last 10 games.

“We have a lot of games to make up,” Brooks continued. “We’re still behind a lot of games in the playoff chase, but the confidence level our guys have, hopefully that continues to remain at a high level. But Brad is really leading that charge, along with some good, solid veteran play. Jeff Green has been solid, at both ends, and in the locker room. Trevor (Ariza) has come in and made a statement of who he is as a player, and he’s done a good job of helping us, leading our team as well.”

Washington will battle it our with Orlando, Charlotte, and Miami for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot down the stretch.

Philadelphia 76ers swingman James Ennis is turning down his player option for the 2019-2020 season, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Ennis, 28, will hit the free agent market on July 1st after posting 7.9 ppg, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game this season.

Bucks’ Pau Gasol Out for Season

Milwaukee Bucks veteran big man Pau Gasol is out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a navicular stress fracture in his left foot, according to an official team announcement.

Gasol, who hasn’t played since March 10th, posted 3.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for the San Antonio Spurs and the Milwaukee Bucks this season.

Chris Fleming Joining Bulls’ Staff

Brooklyn Nets assistant coach Chris Felming will be leaving the organization to join the Chicago Bulls as the top assistant to head coach Jim Boylen, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Fleming joined the Nets staff back in 2016 when head coach Kenny Atkinson took the helm.

Fleming also served as an assistant with the Denver Nuggets back in the 2015-2016 season.
