Suns Interested in Being 3rd Teal in Lakers, Pelicans Trade

Published

The Los Angeles Lakers have some help in their pursuit of New Orleans Pelicans’ superstar big man Anthony Davis.

Their division rival, the Phoenix Suns.

According to the Los Angeles Times’ Tania Ganguli and Broderick Turner, the Suns have reached out to both the Lakers and the Pelicans and made it clear that they are interested in joining the trade as a third team.

The Suns have their eyes on Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, who would be a great fit for the young Suns.

It’s not clear what the Suns could offer outside of their 2019 first round pick, which I assume is completely off the table, but they do have other draft picks and young players such as Dragan Bender, to throw into the fray.

Lonzo’s father, LaVar, ruined the appeal of Lonzo for the Pelicans, after he made comments about his desire to see Lonzo in Phoenix instead, recently.

According to Fletcher Mackel of WDSU, the Pelicans “want no part of the Ball circus.”

This would make the inclusion of the Suns in trade talks beneficial, as it gets Ball a clear landing spot, and provides the Lakers with more assets to offer New Orleans.

LaVar Ball Rips Lakers’ Luke Walton, Calls Him ‘Worst Coach’

Published

on

LaVar Ball is running his mouth. Again.

The father of Lonzo Ball took to the radio and ripped apart current Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton, likely as a play to help push a trade that would get his son, Lonzo Ball, out of Los Angeles.

Ball made the following comments about Walton during an appearance on the ‘Doug & Wolf’ radio show in Arizona.

“Luke Walton was the worst coach he ever had. It was Magic [Johnson] who said he was going to be the dang face of the franchise. But Magic ain’t doing no coaching. And the only person to kill Lonzo is the coach pulling him out and not having no confidence in him. Everyone who’s had confidence in Lonzo just let him go and let him win. That’s what he does. He wins. Luke Walton turned him into a loser. A loser’s mentality is like, ‘Oh, he’s young, he’ll get it.’ Instead of just letting him go out there and do what he does.”

Ball blames the Lakers for his son’s slowed development;
“The Lakers gave my boy that losing attitude.”

Ball has stated that he wants Lonzo to head to the Phoenix Suns, who desperately need a point guard, where he feels he can truly grow into a superstar, saying it’s “the best place for Lonzo”.

“I tell you what: Lonzo makes everybody better. That’s what he’s always did all his life. You don’t even hear of [Kyle] Kuzma if Lonzo don’t make him in the Las Vegas Summer League. You see every time Kuzma plays by himself? [Josh] Hart, [Brandon] Ingram by himself? They don’t get nothing. They look raggedy.”
