Heat’s Wayne Ellington Discusses Lack of Playing Time

Published

on

Miami Heat guard Wayne Ellington hasn’t seen much action recently, logging three consecutive DNPs since he logged only 14 minutes of action back on December 12th during Miami’s loss to the Utah Jazz.

Ellington, who is fresh off a historic 2017-2018 campaign in which he set a new Heat franchise record for most three pointers made during a season, is staying positive and working hard during his benching.

“I’m just working and staying in the gym. It’s therapeutic to me,” said Ellington, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I can only control what I can control. It’s all I can do at this point. Give back to the team, just continue to give, be a good teammate and enjoy these guys’ success.”

“It’s a tough situation for anybody,” Ellington said of the demotion. “I appreciate J.J. saying he has empathy for me. Those are my guys, we’re brothers at the end of the day.”
