Lakers’ Brandon Ingram Sees Team Improvement When He’s Active and Moving

Published

on

Los Angeles Lakers’ forward Brandon Ingram has stepped up his game this season, becoming a more adept ball handler when he is thrust into the job, mostly when LeBron James isn’t on the floor.

But Ingram realizes that his continued improvement in his play off the ball will lead to good things for the team as a whole.

“How good guys were moving without the basketball, I think most of the time we’ve been getting the best shot for the team” Ingram said, via the Lakers official Twitter account.

“I think we did really, really good beyond the 3-point line, so we’re shooting with more confidence. Of course on the defensive side, we’re getting better and better each game I think when I’m active and when I’m moving around… I think that’s when I play much better. Just cutting off the basketball and having a chance to attack not only for myself but also for my teammates.”

Ingram is posting 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game this season for Los Angeles.

Magic Johnson has abruptly stepped down from his role as the President of Basketball Operations of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to The Athletic’s Bill Oram.

Johnson held an impromptu press conference to make the announcement and indicated that he did not inform Lakers owner Jeanie Buss prior to publicly announcing his departure.

“Somebody’s going to have to tell my boss, because I knew I couldn’t be face-to-face and tell her,” Johnson said.

Johnson said that he “had more fun” when he was able to mentor other players and was able to be “the big brother and the ambassador” as opposed to the primary decision maker.

Johnson had been the subject of reports that labeled him an “absentee executive” and he never fully committed to the job and had limited office hours during his tenure.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, on top of that, Johnson was traveling and away from the team often, and wasn’t very active in the scouting area.
