Kings’ Dave Joerger Denies Front Office Rift Following Comments on Kuka Doncic

There may have been a few raised eyebrows within the front office of the Sacramento Kings following comments that head coach Dave Joerger made about Dallas Mavericks rookie phenom Luka Doncic.

Joerger heaped praise on Doncic saying he didn’t see a “ceiling” on him despite thoughts to the contrary, suggesting a disagreement with the Kings pre-draft assessment of Doncic.

However, Joerger said there is no rift over the comments:

“All we’re trying to do is say something positive about another team’s player,” Joerger said, according to NBC Sports’ James Ham.

“There’s no veiled shots at anybody. De’Aaron (Fox) gushed about him and Bogi (Bogdanovic) gushed about him and his ability and wishing him the best. It’s unfortunate that we had to play him and so is the rest of the league because the guy is playing really well right now.”

“It was out of love and positivity and people are trying to turn it something between Vlade (Divac) and I. Vlade and I are like this. Three years we’ve been working together and we love it. I love him.”

Dragan Bender

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors are interested in former Phoenix Suns forward Dragan Bender.

Bender was a major bust with the Suns, who drafted him with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, but he is still only 21 years old.

Bender can still turn his career around, but he has issues with 3 point shooting and the physicality of the NBA game.
