Mavericks Exploring Trade Market

Published

on

The Dallas Mavericks appear to be scouring the trade market to provide a boost to their roster, according to the New York Times’ Marc Stein during an appearance on The Ringer’s Bill Simmons’ podcast.

The Mavericks are reportedly looking to the trade market and could be eyeing a potential deal with the New York Knicks, as Simmons proposed a deal that would send Wesley Matthews from Dallas to New York in exchange for Tim Hardaway Jr. and Frank Ntilikina.

“They are looking, and they want to do something” Stein said. “There is no question about that. [Mavericks general manager] Donnie Nelson is always active, and so they’ve got chips. I don’t think it has materialized [in terms of] what is out there yet. We’re not even at December 15, but they’re always on the lookout to do something.”

Dallas Mavericks’ big man Kristaps Porzingis is set to finally return to the court after nearly a two-year layoff due to injury, and he has some big goals in mind when he dons a Mavericks uniform for the very first time since his trade from the New York Knicks.

In a post on his Instagram account, Porzingis asked his followers to ask him anything, and responded to one fan in particular, who asked if he would rather be All-NBA Third Team or the All-Defensive team.

Porzingis simply stated: “All Defensive! DPOY is a goal of mine!!”

Porzingis tore his ACL during the 2017-2018 season, while he was still playing with the Knicks, so it will be interesting to see what kind form Porzingis takes the court.
