Suns Expected to Move Trevor Ariza

Published

on

Amid another dreadful season, there is growing belief around the league that the Phoenix Suns will make Trevor Ariza available when December 15th, the first day players who signed free-agent contracts this past summer are eligible to be traded, rolls around.

According to the New York Times Marc Stein, Ariza, who inked a one-year, $15 million deal with Phoenix during the offseason, is a candidate to be bought out by the Suns, who did the same thing with Tyson Chandler earlier this season, although the Suns are hoping to gauge interest on the trade market for a fair return.

Ariza could be a nice spark for a team down the stretch of the season, and the Suns’ need at point guard could present an opportunity for the Suns to piece together a package featuring Ariza, to land a more permanent solution at their glaring hole at the point guard position.

The Phoenix Suns are in desperate need of finding a long-term solution at point guard and have been heavily rumored to be in position to make a move to accomplish that goal.

The Suns have been rumored to be open to dealing the 6th overall pick, as well as forwards T.J. Warren and/or Josh Jackson, but the Suns are denying those reports.

According to The Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin, the Suns are not shopping any of the aforementioned pieces.

However, with ties to Brooklyn Nets point guard D’Angelo Russell, a need to clear cap space, and rumors that they would like to move up in the draft, it’s hard buying that the Suns aren’t looking to deal assets to make a move this offseason.
