Houston Rockets undrafted rookie Gary Clark has been a surprise this season, playing so well that he overtook the minutes allotted for veteran forward Carmelo Anthony, who the Rockets eventually parted ways with, and continues to be a player for the team.
Clark has worked hard to gain a spot in the rotation, and it is paying off.
“I used to hear it all the time,” Clark said, according to Maurice Bobb of Bleacher Report. “They didn’t think I could play in the NBA. That was the one thing that I heard more than anything else: ‘This kid, he’s too small, he’s not long enough, he’s not athletic. He can’t shoot it that well, so he can’t play in the NBA.’”
“Gary Clark’s a player,” D’Antoni said. “He’s a player. His defense, his rebounding—smart, right position, shoots the ball. I mean, he’s a player.”
“When it comes down to winning, I do the things that a team needs,” Clark said. “I don’t always score. I will never complain about scoring or shots. But you’ll see me getting steals, rebounds, blocking shots, getting other guys opportunities to score. All I’m about is winning.”
“You can just see it,” Rockets MVP guard James Harden said. “From blocking shots to running the floor to rebounding the ball and grabbing offensive rebounds — just the way he plays — that’s what we need from him.”
Rockets, Clippers Interested in Andre Iguodala
According to the report, the Grizzlies have tried to find a suitable trade partner to ship out Iguodala in the hopes of getting some value back, and have engaged in talks with the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets at different points.
In regards to the Rockets, they are still not comfortable with the idea of going deep in the luxury tax just to land Iguodala.
The Clippers appear to be resistant in giving up newly acquired forward Mo Harkless in landing Iguodala.
Rockets’ Eric Gordon Discusses Trade Rumors
Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon has had quite the offseason, with constant rumors swirling that he is likely to be traded as the Rockets look to revamp their roster.
However, despite the rumors, Gordon says he knows his value to the team, and isn’t concerned about the rumors.
“I’m not really worried about that because I know what I am to this team,” Gordon said, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
“When your name is in a lot of trades that means a lot of teams want you and they’re asking about you. But this team knows what I do and what I bring to the table.”
Gordon added that Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has kept his agent informed regarding trades, and letting him know if any rumors had merit.
“I always knew what status I was in,” Gordon said. “At the end of the day, I just have to continue to play. I’m looking forward to what we’re going to do next year.”
Heat, Rockets Meeting with Jimmy Butler
It appears as though Philadelphia 76ers superstar Jimmy Butler will be a busy man once free agency officially kicks off on Sunday.
While Butler has been heavily linked to the Rockets, via a sign and trade deal, there is growing belief that Butler is favoring a move to South Beach to play for the Heat.
