Oklahoma City Thunder forward Andre Roberson has suffered an unfortunate setback in his rehabilitation from left patellar knee surgery that will set him back an additional two months in his recovery, according to ESPN’s Royce Young.
The setback required Roberson undergo surgery on Thursday, according to a team spokesperson. Roberson’s recovery has not been without it’s hurdles as he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee over the summer to relieve inflammation that developed during his rehab.
Roberson, 25, will be re-evaluated in two months but he will need even more time to prepare for a return to action this upcoming season.
Suns Fans Petitioning for Robert Sarver to Sell Team
Fans are taking their disdain a step further, and have started a petition to force Sarver to sell the team.
Sarver has been brutally terrible with his running of the once proud and successful organization, with his constant meddling and micro-managing that has held the Suns team back.
The recent issues with Talking Stick Arena and Sarver, who threatened relocation before backtracking, was the breaking point for
longtime fan Josh Miller, who started a petition on the website change.org, according to The Arizona Republic.
“From their inception in 1968, through 2010, the Phoenix Suns were one of the NBA’s model franchises,” wrote Miller in the petition’s description. “The Suns were typically among contenders for the NBA championship. In their history, the Suns have won 7 division titles, and played in the NBA Finals twice. Despite not winning a championship, until recently, the Suns had the fourth highest winning percentage in NBA history.”
The petition goes on to make a plea for NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to step in:
“The only solution is for Mr. Silver to force Robert Sarver to sell the team to an owner who wants to invest in the franchise and is interested in putting together a basketball team that can compete in the NBA.”
Grizzlies’ Joakim Noah Says He Was “Too Lit To Play In New York”
Memphis Grizzlies center Joakim Noah is happy to finally be back on the court, and in action, following his departure from the New York Knicks recently.
While things didn’t pan out for Noah in New York, who waived him prior to the start of the season by using the stretch provision on the remainder of his deal, Noah says he was too much for New York, believing it wasn’t a fit for him either.
“I remember after the first game (in New York) I probably had like 60 people in my house,” Noah said, according to Grind City Media’s Chris Vernon. “I’m too lit to play in New York City. Memphis is perfect for me.”
“We were lit in Chicago, but I was young. You recover faster, you know?”
Noah also discussed his departure from New York.
“It happened so fast,” Noah said. “One year I’m playing 35 minutes a game. And then injuries started piling up. I got this crazy deal with the Knicks, and then the next thing you know I’m not playing anymore. Get kicked off the team. It was a crazy time. I wasn’t sure I was gonna get an opportunity to play again.”
Noah, who has looked much better during his stint with Memphis, is glad to be playing for the Grizzlies.
“I got the call from Memphis. … I decided that this was a good fit,” Noah said. “I’m just really, really happy to be here.”
Bulls Pulling Jabari Parker from Regular Rotation
The 23-year old Parker came to Chicago via a two-year, $40 million deal during the offseason, and marked a return to his hometown and a chance to re-ignite his career.
Now, it appears certain that the Bulls will decline his option, sending Parker back to free agency next summer.
“Jabari has been great,” Bulls head coach Jim Boylen said, according to Andrews. “He understands. Jabari wants to make it about helping the team win. And that’s what I’ve asked him to do.”
Parker has averaged 15.8 points and 7.1 rebounds for Chicago this season.
