Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker has been at the root of trade rumors this offseason, being linked to teams such as the New York Knicks, but the veteran franchise building block doesn’t want to go anywhere.
Walker spoke about the rumors, specifically those that link him to the Knicks.
“As far as seeing me in New York, I doubt it,” Walker said, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic. “I’m a Hornet, and I’m planning on being a Hornet for a long time; so, yeah, I’m not sure about that [New York].”
Walker, a Bronx native, has one year remaining in his contract worth $12 million.
“I’m not planning to leave, no,” Walker said. “It’s not up to me right now.”
Hornets’ PJ Washington Medically Cleared
Charlotte Hornets rookie PJ Washington has been medically cleared to do pretty much everything on the court, good news for the 21-year old and the Hornets.
“I’m pretty much cleared to do everything,” Washington said, according to Rck Bonnell of the Charlotte News Observer . “After summer league, it was about two weeks.”
“Pretty much everything: Finishing, shooting, pick-and-roll, pick-and-pop,” Washington reiterated. “All the reads.”
Washington had been recovering from ongoing pain in his left foot, which prevented him from participating in the 2019 Summer League.
Now, it’s all systems go for Washington.
Kemba Walker Informs Hornets He Will Sign with Celtics
According to the Charlotte Observer’s Rick Bonnell, Walker has told the Hornets that he pans to signed with the Celtics once free agency kicks off.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Walker will ink a four-year, $141 million contract with Boston.
Hornets Decline Qualifying Offer for Frank Kaminsky
With the loss of Kemba Walker and now with Kaminsky heading out the door, it seems to be a sinking ship in Charlotte.
Kaminsky wasn’t a big part of head coach James Borrego’s rotation, losing minutes as the season wore on, but he is expected to draw significant interest one he hits free agency.
Kaminsky averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists last season for the Hornets.
