Don’t be surprised if Kemba Walker is wearing a new jersey in a different city next year. Walker is on the last year of his contract and slated to make 12 million this year. For a prolific scorer and the face of the Hornets franchise this could be a great thing.
While Walker professes that he loves Charlotte and wants to play out his career there. Is that what’s best for Kemba? It seems like every move the Charlotte front office makes ends in disaster. And none of those moves play to Walkers strengths.
Teams who are one or two pieces away from playoff contention would be ecstatic to land Walker. Who is on a very friendly team contract.
The major players could be Cleveland(if Lebron stays). Phoenix, who declined Elfrid Payton’s option. As well as Orlando, who has an amazing front court to work with and an underwhelming playmaker in Aaron Afflalo. My guess is Walker has his bags packed before the end of the summer.
Grizzlies, Hornets Working Towards Marc Gasol Trade
According to the Sporting News’ Sean Deveney, there is growing skepticism that the two teams can work out a trade despite Gasol being held out of Tuesday’s game, leading many to believe that a trade was being finalized.
Per the report:
“But league sources told Sporting News that the Hornets and Grizzlies do not have an agreement in place, and that there is increasing skepticism on both sides that a trade can be brought to bear ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. The Hornets have had interest in Gasol for some time, but a deal has not progressed.”
Gasol and teammate Mike Conley will almost certainly be moved by the deadline, but Gasol to the Hornets doesn’t seem like such a sure thing.
Hornets’ Miles Bridges Believes He Is Making Big Strides
The Charlotte Hornets have seen some growth from rookie swingman Miles Bridges this season.
“In the beginning of the season, I was on fire,” Bridges said, according to The Athletic’s Roderick Boone.
“I feel like I was one of the best rookies, but then as the season went on, I started struggling. So it’s just a mental aspect where you need to be strong mentally to be able to play in the NBA, especially as a rookie. I feel I overcame the rookie wall and I feel like I am going to play great for the rest of the season.”
Bridges has been on a tear over the past 4 games, pouring in 10.3 points per game while providing a spark off the bench.
Mavericks, Hornets Interested in Cavs’ Kevin Love
Love signed a four-year, $120 million deal with Cleveland last season, adding some financial difficulties to trading him.
However, Love, 30, is drawing interest, as teams covet his scoring and rebounding abilities.
