Wizards’ Shopping 15th Pick, Expiring Deals

Published

The Washington Wizards are reportedly shopping the 15th overall pick in Thursday’s draft as long as any interested team would be willing to take on one of their expiring contracts, according to The Sports Capitol’s Ben Standig.

“The Wizards have five players with expiring contracts, including starters Marcin Gortat and Markieff Morris. Gortat’s $13.56 million salary for the 2018-19 season dwarfs the other expiring deals. The hefty figure counts among the reasons why the 34-year-old center is considered a likely trade piece.”

Gortat may be the more difficult piece to move considering his declining numbers.

Morris would be the more likely piece to be moved as he is owed $8.6M next season and teams would value his motor and his production.

“Jabari has been great,” Bulls head coach Jim Boylen said, according to Andrews. “He understands. Jabari wants to make it about helping the team win. And that’s what I’ve asked him to do.”

Parker has averaged 15.8 points and 7.1 rebounds for Chicago this season.
