Nuggets Interested In Celtics’ Marcus Smart

Published

on

The Denver Nuggets are interested in Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart and are exploring possible trade scenarios with Boston, according to the New York Times’ Marc Stein.

Boston is reportedly willing to part with Smart for a first-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Denver is making Emmanuel Mudiay available in their talks with Boston but there is no indication that a 1st round pick is on the table as of yet.

Over the weekend, the Celtics and Nuggets were discussing a deal that would send Smart to Denver in exchange for Mudiay and a draft pick, according to the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett.

It is possible that Boston will work out a deal that will see Smart departing but it is unlikely that the return will include a 1st round pick, which is becoming a valued commodity among many NBA teams recently.

There is also the possibility that Boston holds on to Smart if they do not get their demand for a 1st round pick.

If coming off bench makes sense – people make it a bigger deal than it really is. At end of the day it’s basketball. (Gordon) Hayward came off the bench & had 30 points. It’s a mindset. It’s a choice.”

Brown’s fourth-year option guarantees his $6,534,829 cap charge for next season, while Tatum will be locked in for a  $7,830,000 cap hit for the 2019-2020 season, both moves considered to be no brainers given their development.

The decision on Yabusele, who hasn’t shown much of anything over 38 games since joining Boston, is a bit more of a surprise, but the Celtics see something in his to warrant their decision to keep him a part of their team moving forward.
