The Chicago Bulls reached a buyout agreement with Dwyane Wade over the weekend and the veteran guard is now on the free agent market.
Wade is expected to draw much interest, but the belief is that the front-runners to sign him are the Cleveland Cavaliers, due to his friendship and familiarity with LeBron James who was teammates with Wade during their time in Miami with the Heat.
The Heat are also considered a team of interest but it is unlikely that they can carve our an appealing role for Wade, who would likely have to play behind Dion Waiters.
The Oklahoma City Thunder offer an attractive scenario to Wade with a lineup consisting of MVP Russell Westbrook and new additions Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, who is a close friend of Wade’s.
Wade also has interest in the San Antonio Spurs.
While the list of suitors may continue to grow, Wade has stated that he plans to move quickly on a decision.
“I’m going to take tonight and some of tomorrow and speak to the teams or players that are on my list and go from there,” Wade said according to the Associated Press.
“My decision is a pure basketball decision, and I’ll make the one that fits me best at this point in my career and with what I feel I have to offer a team that needs what I have to offer.”
