Spurs Sign Quincy Pondexter

The San Antonio Spurs have signed wing player Quincy Pondexter to a one-year contract that is partially guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes.

Pondexter could fill the void left by Manu Ginobili, who retired earlier this week.

Pondexter, 30, played 23 games with the Chicago Bulls last season averaging 2.0 points per contest.

Clippers Trade Wesley Johnson to Pelicans for Alexis Ajinca

The Los Angeles Clippers have traded guard Wesley Johnson to the New Orleans Pelicans for center Alexis Ajinca, according to the New York Times’ Marc Stein.

In corresponding moves, the Clippers will waive Ajinca and guard Juwan Evans in order to ensure that they are at 15 player roster limit for opening night later this week, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Los Angeles will save $849K by swapping out Wesley Johnson for Alexis Ajinca and are now $3.9M below the luxury tax.

Suns Sign Jamal Crawford

The Phoenix Suns have added shooting guard Jamal Crawford to their backcourt as they signed the veteran to a one-year, $2.4 million deal for the veteran’s minimum, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

With the move, the Suns had to trim 3 players from their roster by the 5pm ESt deadline, and have waived guard Shaquille Harrison and forward Darrell Arthur and are shopping Davon Reed on the trade market as well.

Celtics’ Terry Rozier Rejected Contract Extension Offer

Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier rejected a contract extension from the team that would have paid him roughly $12 million annually, according to a report from A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston.

Rozier’s decision to decline the contract offer was a decision made by him and his management team.

“I’m in a great situation,” Rozier said, according to NBC Sports Boston. “My team felt it wasn’t good for me to sign an extension right now. It opens my options a little bit, but I’m focused on what’s happening right now.”
