Knicks’ David Fizdale Excited for New Culture, Kristaps Porzingis

Published

The New York Knicks need a culture change, and a change of luck after their struggles over the past few years, and new head coach David Fizdale is excited to bring in a new culture of success, as well as coach and develop Kristaps Porzingis.

“It’s already happening,” Fizdale said, according to Bruce Beck of NBC New York. “Kristaps (Porzingis) will come back healthy. He was already having a big-time season last year when he got knocked down. We had an awesome draft with Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, and Allonzo Trier — our two-way player.”

“Scott (Perry) and these guys are big-time sticking to an awesome plan of bringing in guys that maybe didn’t work out at a place where they were at before but are high draft picks. Under some good player development and some culture, maybe they can turn into something close to what they were expected to be… We’re doing it the right way.”

Rozier’s decision to decline the contract offer was a decision made by him and his management team.

“I’m in a great situation,” Rozier said, according to NBC Sports Boston. “My team felt it wasn’t good for me to sign an extension right now. It opens my options a little bit, but I’m focused on what’s happening right now.”

Knicks’ Kristaps Porzingis Not Expected to Receive Extension Before Deadline

Published

The New York Knicks are not expected to give Kristaps Porzingis a contract extension before the end of Monday’s deadline, which will make the budding franchise player a restricted free agent next summer, according to ESPN’s Ian Begley.

Porzingis’ season-ending torn ACL and a desire to create as much cap flexibility so they can be major players in next summer’s free agency appear to be the main factors in the team coming to this decision.
