Wizards, Dwight Howard Nearing Deal

The Washington Wizards are closing in on a deal for free agent center Dwight Howard, who negotiated a buyout from the Brooklyn Nets, whom he was traded to from the Charlotte Hornets last week.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Mannix, the deal is expected to go through once Howard’s buyout is officially completed.

Howard will fill a need for the Wizards, who recently traded Marcin Gortat to the Los Angeles Clippers, and is coming off a solid season in Charlotte where he averaged 16.6 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.

Bucks Waive Shabazz Muhammad

The Milwaukee Bucks have waived veteran swingman Shabazz Muhammad, according to an official team announcement.

Muhammad joined the Bucks last season following the finalization of his buyout from the Minnesota Timberwolves, playing in just 11 games with Milwaukee to close out the regular season and averaging 8.5 ppg during that span.

Muhammad will become an unrestricted free agent if he goes unclaimed on waivers on Saturday
