The Detroit Pistons are in the midst of a playoff push but they will have to wait a bit longer if guard Reggie Jackson is to join them down the stretch.
Jackson has been out of the Pistons lineup since suffering a right ankle sprain earlier this season and having him back would help Detroit push for a playoff spot.
However, Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy says there Jackson shouldn’t be rushed back into the lineup and that he isn’t very close to making a return to action.
“He’s okay, but there’s nothing imminent with him” Van Gundy said, according to The Detroit News’ Rob Beard.
“He’s doing his rehab and he did a little bit of 1-on-1 against one of the video guys today, but that’s as far along as he is.”
Detroit may a bold move to be playoff contenders, signified by the trade for Blake Griffin, and having Jackson back in the lineup will go a long way in helping them become just that, but it remains to be seen if Jackson makes a return the rest of the season.
Pistons Expected To Pick Up Option on Reggie Bullock
According to the Detroit News’ Rod Beard, the Pistons are expected to pick up a $2.5 million team-option on shooting guard Reggie Bullock.
Bullock had a solid 2017-2018 campaign, ranking 2nd in the league in 3-point shooting, shooting 44.5% behind the arc and 53.6% from the field while averaging 11.5 points per game.
Pistons Hire Dwane Casey, Sign Him to 5-Year Pact
Casey, 61, owns a 373-307 career record in parts of nine seasons with Toronto and Minnesota, and was fired last month after leading the Raptors to a 59-23 regular season record, and a #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Pistons Likely To Hire Dwane Casey
The Detroit Pistons are closing in on their next head coach, as the team is likely to name former Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey to take the helm in Detroit, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Earlier on Tuesday, Michigan Wolverines head coach John Beilein, who had interviews for the Pistons job, announced that he is choosing to stay at Michigan, pulling out of consideration for the Pistons gig.
Casey met with team owner Tom Gores on Tuesday and an announcement seems imminent.
