White is averaging 3.3 points and 1.8 rebounds for the Heat this season.
Babbitt, who played for the Heat during the 2016-2017 season, is averaging 6.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game this season for Atlanta.
Hawks’ Trae Young Eager to Learn from Jeremy Lin
Atlanta Hawks rookie guard Trae Young is excited to start his rookie season, and is eager to learn from experienced players, such as his teammate, veteran point guard Jeremy Lin who was acquired this offseason.
“From what I’ve heard, he’s going to be a great mentor for me,” Young said, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic. “We’ve been talking. He’s a good dude. He’s been through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. He’s seen it all, so I’m looking forward to picking his brain.”
Lin is widely believed to be the Hawks starting point guard this season, but that won’t deter Young, who is looking at the big picture for Atlanta.
“I think we’ll work really well together,” Young said. “This is a rebuilding team, and we’re going to try some things. Some are going to work, some aren’t, so we’re just going to work together and do whatever we can to turn this franchise around.”
Hawks Waive Carmelo Anthony
Anthony finalized a buyout deal with the Hawks, agreeing to give back the equivalent of the veteran’s minimum salary, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Anthony is now ready to sign with the Houston Rockets, which many expect him to do.
Carmelo Anthony Says Thunder ‘Wasn’t a Good Fit’
“At the end of the day, it wasn’t a good fit,” Anthony said, according to ESPN’s Jemele Hill.
“I think last year — and I haven’t talked about this before — everything was just so rushed, going to the team for media day and the day before training camp. Them guys already had something in place, and then I come along in the 25th hour like, oh s%#t, Melo just come on and join us.
Like, you can figure it out since you’ve been around the game for a long time. That’s why it was so inconsistent. At times, I had to figure it out on my own rather than somebody over there or people over there helping me.”
Naturally, Anthony won’t admit that his lack of acceptance of a role that didn’t make him the focal point also was an issue, but Anthony didn’t seem like he wanted to fit with Oklahoma City.
Either way, both Anthony and the Thunder are better off now that the two have split.
