Prince will take Brogdon’s spot in the NBA Rising Stars game, Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The report also announced that the Hawks’ John Collins is also on the US team.
Brogdon, the reigning NBA rookie of the year, suffered a partially torn tendon in his left quad in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and will miss 6-8 weeks.
Brogdon was pouring in 13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game for Milwaukee this season.
Prince is having a solid season for Atlanta, averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game for the Hawks this season.
Hawks Sign Thomas Robinson to Non-Guaranteed Deal
Robinson last played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2016-2017 regular season, averaging 5.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, and last played professional basketball for Khimki of the VTB United League and the EuroLeague.
Robinson will battle Omari Spellman and Alex Poythress for playing time, and a roster spot during training camp.
Hawks’ Trae Young Eager to Learn from Jeremy Lin
Atlanta Hawks rookie guard Trae Young is excited to start his rookie season, and is eager to learn from experienced players, such as his teammate, veteran point guard Jeremy Lin who was acquired this offseason.
“From what I’ve heard, he’s going to be a great mentor for me,” Young said, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic. “We’ve been talking. He’s a good dude. He’s been through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. He’s seen it all, so I’m looking forward to picking his brain.”
Lin is widely believed to be the Hawks starting point guard this season, but that won’t deter Young, who is looking at the big picture for Atlanta.
“I think we’ll work really well together,” Young said. “This is a rebuilding team, and we’re going to try some things. Some are going to work, some aren’t, so we’re just going to work together and do whatever we can to turn this franchise around.”
Hawks Waive Carmelo Anthony
Anthony finalized a buyout deal with the Hawks, agreeing to give back the equivalent of the veteran’s minimum salary, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Anthony is now ready to sign with the Houston Rockets, which many expect him to do.
