The Detroit Pistons haven’t had much to be excited about over the past few seasons as they struggled in the cellar of the Eastern Conference.
But in one bold move, the trade for Blake Griffin, excitement about the team’s future is building and Pistons’ players are looking forward to playing alongside the All-Star forward.
“I’m excited,” Drummond said (h/t ESPN). “It’s a new chapter. We’ve got three new guys coming in, so it’s something to really look forward to. Obviously, Blake is a hell of a player, a great passer, as well too, so I’m looking forward to building this new empire with him.”
Drummond also compared himself to Griffin’s former teammate DeAndre Jordan.
“I think I got a little more to my game than DeAndre does offensively,” Drummond said. when comparing himself to Jordan.
“But I think it’s going to be a lot more fun.”
The excitement has trickled down from the players to the coaches.
“Look, I’m not an ecstatic person,” Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy said. “But I’m about as excited as you can be I guess for me in the middle of the season on an eight-game losing streak.”
