Pelicans’ DeMarcus Cousins Says Team Must Find Consistency, Accept Being ‘Boring’

Published

on

When it comes to finding and sustaining success for the New Orleans Pelicans, big man DeMarcus Cousins has the formula.

Simply find consistency and accept being a ‘boring’ team.

“Consistency,” Cousins said when asked about what the team needs to do to improve, according to William Guillory of the Times-Picayune.

“We might play the right way three games, then play the wrong way four games. Just finding that consistency, being OK with being a boring team that plays the right way every night. I think it’s just consistency. That’s our biggest struggle.”

The Pelicans are currently 18-18, which is good enough for the 8th spot in the Western Conference.

Cousins is certainly doing his part, is averaging 26.2 points, 12.5 rebounds and a career-high 5.2 assists per game this year.

Pelicans Not Talking About Moving Anthony Davis

Published

on

The New Orleans Pelicans have no plans to move superstar Anthony Davis, and are taking a patient approach to see how happy Davis remains with the franchise.

During an appearance on Jeff Goodman’s ‘The Good N’ Plenty Podcast‘, Yahoo Sports’ Chris Mannix spoke, at length, about Davis’ situation with the Pelicans.

“What everyone around the league is zeroing in on [is to see what Anthony Davis does]. They are waiting for the first time that Anthony Davis grumbles a little bit. They’re waiting to see either private or public consternation from Anthony Davis,”

“That’s the first domino to fall: once he starts griping a little bit about what’s going on there, and why they can’t put their type of team around him, that’s when you start to panic in New Orleans.”

“When I talk to people down in New Orleans – and look, they’re now fully entrenched there, I believe both the coaches and GM got extensions somewhat recently – they’re not talking about moving Anthony Davis, they’re not entertaining anything seriously about moving Anthony Davis. That could change, and probably will change once, and if, Davis starts grumbling publicly or privately about where they’re at.”
