Sixers Sign Joel Embiid To Five-Year, $148M Deal

Joel Embiid is sticking around with the Philadelphia 76ers for the future.

Embiid has agreed to a five-year, $148-million designated rookie scale maximum contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

“The Super Max” deal allows Embiid to earn a higher percentage of the salary cap — and potentially millions of dollars more if he meets criteria or hits certain benchmarks over the course of the deal, including, making All-NBA teams, winning NBA Defensive Player of the Year, or the NBA’s Most Valuable Player.

Emibiid has the potential to earn $178 million on the contract
